awesome percussion. those stringy things are excellent, especially when that melody comes in - not sure what that is.. could be a guitar though.. or some synth. hell, its not really that important, but it sounds pretty cool. the song itself is quite busy despite having a "laid" back feeling to it, gotta say it might not be everyone's cup of tea but i think the contrast works great. oh, just changed again. got some sort of deep bassy sound that sounds pretty neat, sounds almost like funk here with the rhythm. haha, excellent piano riff. not repeatitive at all, in fact, the song itself on a whole is extremely interesting. not sure how long you've been working on this, but it sounds very mature as a song. so much to say about each individual part, i can't keep up with it. the production work here is fantastic, i think i'll come back for seconds later. :) (Smile)

Nice how the beat is so focused and determined and everything else works around that like a well oiled machine. Moving through a musical space...doing this, attending to that, putting out fires when they pop up, dealing with it, getting through...its all there in this one. And all through beautifully produced music. That's nicely done! Nodding

Wow----BIG sounds and killer cymbals! You rule in the cymbal business you know! I don’t even know anymore what’s real and what’s not---where is that PRS? Where is my sandwich? Piano----Guitar— Bass--cymbals—it all sounds real to my ear. Huge sweep! A master Van tune---again! Can we have Caviar and Champaign sometime? Five minutes has now past..........

"less about studio acropbatics" ha! damn, FB, no one mixes like you. Nodding definately a groove to this,.. someone mentioned a well oiled machine, and I concur, but at the same time it has a very organic feel to it, very 'living, breathing, slice of life' vibe. I'd comment more on the mixing, the use of stereo, the levels... but it's all so damn perfect, and leagues beyond anything I could even pretend to critique. Laughs Out Loud very well done. Nodding

That percussion draws me right in, and I don't consider myself a "beats" guy (as we ambient types say).

The melody is simple and good, and the backing effects work. That guitar line is wonderful--Penguin Cafe Orchestra, somehow.

I don't really use that "groovin" icon on dmusic that often, but this song will now convert me to its cause.

I like this kind of 70s layered production. It's the music I enjoy.

I can't imagine what the vocal would be on this one, but it might benefit from some vocal samples, all spy movie-ish.

But I love this. Well done.

Kewl.... Produced very well, there is a lot going on and it is nicely arranged. It is all well placed and everything works – all the children are playing well together. The gtr lick reminds me of Lindsey Buckingham.

Very Well Done

Love this song! I like your return to more pattern-based songs here, and more of a melodic vibe -- it's definitely reminiscent of some of your older stuff, but with the experience you've gained, you really take it to the next level. The combination of acoustic and synthetic beats is fantastic. You've got some seriously weird harmonies going on in the piano.

The section that begins around 3:15 is sweet, the synths are particularly good there, paired with the piano and the bendy guitar ... all the elements complement each other well and work well together (but not without some dissonance) -- great job, man!

weyhey! what lovely jumbled up drums, oh yeh i like these.
There is so much happening, yet its not overwelming, which i find quite amazing.
Guitar melody is really quite nice, and for some reason sounds farmilliar don't know why Shrugs
1:00 nice chilled out feel on this changeup, loved the bass dive thing.
3:00 wow it gets almost dramatic and emotional here in a kinda good way, didn't see that coming, piano sounds great.
4:10 omg, its all jazzy now Haha! wow! This track has multiple personalities or something.
What a kick ass track Well done!!!

this is pretty good... sounds very 'movie soundtrack'-ish... seems to be all about atmosphere... its a little dancable... not really distracting... just smooth sailing... everything is mixed well... i'd say the only distracting things are the cymbols... maybe they could use some decay... something to make them a little milder... i like the fizzy sounds at 3min... really good at the end... overall good job... keep it up!

owww, love when the guitars come in and sound mostly like violins...

I'm with Imemine on this, I can't tell what is "real" or "synthetic", but then, if that line is blurred, does it matter? What matters in this case is the work, the textures just fit. I love how the guitars sound like chirping birds or even oboes(at least to me), then at another point are just rocking out. The drums are key to this, kind of have this Manu Katche feel to them. Great tune, oh and nice modulation on the piano at the 3.5 minute point.

heh, i listened to the description of this and thought, if it were me, this track would sound like a tornado picking up a few heavy duty trucks and the sound of them smashing against a wall... so i was pleasantly surprised at how relaxing it felt from the intro, much more ethereal than I expected, all the parts interweave incredibly well, flowing in and out of each other, i'm trying to picture which parts of the music are work, being a father, writing a film score etc., this intrigues me, the description is enough to give the music a voice and lyrics. As always, incredible production and overall this has a wonderfully cohesive, relaxing vibe to it... what's your secret?

Very good, could that be called Dub beat? Stereo wonderland enters..
Of all the sounds in this song, the most emotionally intriguing, interesting sounds can for me be found in the soaring pads that roam around together with the raining guitars, it's also for some reason catchy as hell.
I must also say the fusion remniscent beat that appears is quite awesome!
You've really created a journey in this track, and on a structural level the parts that exist between those "beat" parts, for instance, are very cleverly made to lead us on in a feeling of intrigue about the entire trip.
This is up to the same level as "fog", "black line" and trailguidehand, definately one of your best! Brilliant!

I echo Deadraven about the organic feel too, maybe it's one of your most organic tracks yet, maybe together with "fog"..

Bloody hell this is good. The drums get hold of you right away and there's a beautiful yearning quality to that pedal steel type guitar, and Jeez, you've really crammed a lot into this without anything sounding remotely extraneous. I like the 'chirping birds' guitar too and the seamless way you move from one passage to the next. Brilliant stuff Nodding

Whoa! Not even wasting time with an intro, eh? Just diving into a groove here, and I’m liking what I’m hearing. There’s so much going on here, I’m not sure what to focus on… So I’m enjoying everything, letting the musical chaos drown my eardrums! Groovin I like the harsh transitions of the track. This track seems kinda bittersweet… Cause there’s so much racket going on with the percussion in the background, yet the melodies are so coy and relaxing. It’s been a while since I’ve heard a full production from you, Van. This is just the kinda tune I was expecting to hear from my long hiatus of your music. Laughs Out Loud @ the outro. Thumbs Up

Holy kick ass! That part that comes in with the funky deep bass or whatever it is is just like a wammy bar on my heart. What does that mean? Hey! You said something elluding to an effigy of a delicate body part...don't look at me like that!

Wow! I'm really in love with the amazing production of your work, given the sheer DENSITY and complexity of a lot of it. Usually we tend to hit a ceiling at some point where to add any other little bells and whistles would simply overstimulate the listener (or, in my case, piss off the max poly in FL studio Rolling On Floor Laughing! ). That rattly old bass is incredible. And oh man...that 3:00ish piano section really hurled me on a round trip to the moon, bro! Dark, yet a little nostalgic and uplifting and ultra aware of its own suavete. Gosh, gotta listen to that again Hyper

Five minutes ago, and five minutes later, this song totally still kicks my ass. It's packed with peanuts.

This rocks like it ever did, mellowing and kicking at the same time like you're superimposed over yourself and watching that picture and wondering what the hell is it you were doing? Why was I reaching for the book on the shelf, I don't remember that at all.

Five minutes ago, but off to the side. This is what I would've been doing five minutes ago if things hadn't gone slightly differently the way they didn't go.

Nice track, holds up. Is what I'm saying.
